How to Participate in the meeting

The Board encourages the public to remain engaged and actively participate via the ZOOM process if they are unable to attend the meeting at the Marshall County Election Center, 107 S 1st Avenue. Presenters may provide documentation electronically for inclusion during the meeting prior to the agenda deadline and are requested to participate via ZOOM. Notice to the Public

The Board of Supervisors welcomes comments from the public during the time allowed for discussion. You are requested to approach the microphone, state your name for the record and limit the time used to present your remarks in order that others may be given the opportunity to speak. The normal process on any agenda item is for the Chairperson to read the item from the agenda. The Board is given an opportunity to comment on the issue and/or place a motion on the floor. An opportunity for discussion may be presented at which time the public may participate and a roll call vote will follow.

Approve Letter of Support for TRAILS, Inc., Destination Iowa Grant application.

Support of Destination Iowa Grant Application  – Marshall County, Iowa, Iowa River’s Edge Trail

 TRAILS Inc. is a 501(c)3 non-profit working on raising funds to complete the 17 miles of trail and bridges in Marshall County to complete the Marshall County portion of the Iowa River’s Edge Trail. The trail will connect into Hardin County and create a 34-mile trail which will serve as a recreational and tourism attraction for both Hardin and Marshall Counties. Most of the trail is listed on the American Discovery Trail coast to coast priority system. The trail will draw visitors from around the state and country. It is the next premier trail system in the state. 

The Marshall County Supervisors support this application for Destination Iowa funding for this project to improve recreation, tourism, and alternative transportation.

The sale of the Convenience Store/Gas station is scheduled to close on May 9, 2022. The new owner, Prime Stop Inc., has filed incorporation documents with the Secretary of State.

Approve Issuance of State Tobacco Licenses, for Prime Stop, Inc., 1659 Marshalltown Blvd, Melbourne, IA

The sale of the Convenience Store/Gas is scheduled to close May 9, 2022. Attached, two applications for State of Iowa Cigarette/Tobacco/Nicotine/Vapor licenses:

  1. May 9, 2022 - June 30, 2022  (Start date to be effective no earlier than Board of Supervisor Approval)
  2. July 1, 2022 - June 30, 2023.

Approve Memorandum of Understanding with Jasper County, Iowa, relating to shared cost of construction for two bridges, referred to as CO2 and CO6.

Two road bridges currently existing and shared between Jasper and Marshall County, the agreement is for 50% shared cost of final construction costs. Probable cost for each bridge is $111.121.00.  

  1. FHWA #199030 (CO2) - Marshall County Share:  $55,560.00
  2. FHWA #199060 (CO6) - Marshall County Share:  $55,561.00

Health and Prescription Drug Benefit Plan:
