Passports
Hours
- Passport services are available Monday - Friday, 8:00 am to 3:30 pm (closed on county holidays).
- Required forms can be printed from the U.S. Department of State website, or they are available at our office.
- Please allow approximately 20-30 minutes per person to complete the application and photo, if needed.
Checklist
Payment
Bring two checks or two money orders—one payable to the U.S. Department of State and one payable to the Marshall County Auditor. Fees vary by applicant. Adult fees apply to applicants age 16 and older. An online fee calculator is available on the U.S. Department of State Website.
Passport Photo
The Auditor & Recorder's Office provides passport photos for $15.00 each.
Proof of Citizenship
For example, a certified birth certificate issued by the state or county of birth.
Parental Consent
The application requires both parents to be present and consent to the issuance of a minor's passport.
Types of Passports
Passport Card
Can be used to enter the United States from Canada, Mexico, the Caribbean, and Bermuda at land boarder crossings or seaports of entry. Passport cards are less expensive and more convenient than passport books but cannot be used for international air travel.
Passport Book
Required for international air travel.
Passport books and cards are typically valid for 10 years for applicants age 16 years and older, and 5 years for those under age 16.
